Last year when your daddy and I found out we were going to be adding another baby to our family, we were pretty nervous about how we were going to handle 4 kids under 4 years old. But, it seems the God wasn't going to give us something (or someone) that we couldn't handle, because YOU are the perfect fit for our family. The missing piece of our family puzzle.
Month 6 was a busy one for you, Baby Evan! You celebrated your first Easter, you were baptized on April 19, you tried food for the first time the day before your 6 month birthday, and you had a consult with CHOP Plastic Surgery.
You LOVE to look at books and be read to each night. You grab at the pages with such intention. I hope you always have a love for reading and learning.
You are still exclusively breastfed. You also take a nightly bottle of breastmilk before bed. You took a dip in the weight department and fell down to 4th% back at 4 months old. At 5 months, we went in for a weight check and you were up to 6th%, and now at 6 months old, you are at 12th% and weigh 15 lbs, 9 oz. You are 27 inches long in the 60th% for height.
Yesterday, we gave you your first taste of real food. Some mashed up sweet potatoes were a hit and you knew exactly what to do!
We are still dealing with your dairy sensitivity. Your skin has never looked better, though, since I've taken out all dairy. And you also haven't been itching quite as much. I have come to the realization that baked-in dairy is OK and doesn't affect your skin.
As for motor milestones, you can roll every which way...back to belly, belly to back and both to the left and the right. Your sit is wobbly and you usually end up touching your toes, but you'll be there very soon! No signs of crawling yet.
At your 6 month well-visit, Dr. Schonfeld checked the flat spot on the back of your head (we've know about it since you were 2 months old and were doing neck stretches and conservative therapy at home). She seemed to think you may be a good candidate for a cranial shaping helmet or DOC band to help round out the back of your head. So, on April 15, you, your daddy and I ventured down to CHOP in the city to have your head evaluated by a pediatric plastic surgeon. The plastic surgeon also agreed that we should pursue a helmet. So, next month, you will be getting measured and fitted for a helmet. You should only have to wear it for 3 or 4 months and then you'll have the roundest head in our family!
Sweet Evan! You are such a blessing to our family! You are such a joy to your mommy and daddy, and your siblings just adore you! We can't wait to see your personality blossom and see you learn so many new things! We love you, beautiful baby boy!
