Lucas' 4th Birthday!

Lucas' 4th birthday party was held on Saturday, January 24 at Giggleberry Fair at Peddler's Village. We were worried about the snowstorm that blew through the night before the party and were afraid some of his friends wouldn't be able to join us, but the snow stopped early enough in the morning that the roads were clear to drive. And everyone showed up! Lucas and his friends had so much fun in the indoor jungle gym, carousel and arcade. After playing for a while, they all gathered in the party section for pizza, fruit and cake. So much fun!

We held a family dinner that night at our house with all the grandparents, Atie Michele, Uncle Scott, Allison and John. We had so much leftover cake from the kid's party that we were able to have some more that evening!

On Lucas' actual birthday, January 25th, we had donuts for breakfast, went to church, he played his new bongo drums and then created a mini band with Claire and David. It snowed 2 nights before, so Lucas and his grandparents built a snowman, a fort and played out in the snow! Of course, there was more cake and more singing to celebrate our birthday boy!!

Evan is 3 months old!

A quarter of a year old! Wow how time flies!  We are officially out of the fourth trimester and Evan is seeming more like a baby than a newborn. He still is quite sleepy and takes 3-4 naps a day, but he is staying awake for longer periods (about an hour or so between naps), and is beginning to wake and startle from naps easier. It is probably time to move him to his crib for naps, but I just love having
him on the main level where he is more a part of the group!

This month Evan started sleeping through the night! He has officially dropped all of his night feedings (what?!), and a typical night is sleeping from 8:30/9pm until 6/7am. He has even thrown in a few 8am wake-ups which is just crazy to us! None of our other kids dropped that 4am feeding until well after the 6 month mark (and it was probably closer to 9 months!). Once in a while we will have to go to him in the middle of the night to give him his pacifier or reswaddle him (he will get an arm out of the Swaddle Me, and wakes himself up), but he has always drifted right back to sleep. After his first feeding of the day, he always goes right back to sleep for another 2 hours or so. Dream Baby, I tell ya!

Evan is such a happy little guy! He constantly smiles and coos. He makes adorable little giggling sounds. He usually waits until the big kids are asleep to smile and talk to mommy and daddy, but we have witnessed some communication between Evan and his siblings.

Claire singing "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" to Evan. And Evan smiling at her.

Evan went to the pediatrician for his 2 month well visit on January 2 (a week late, so he was 9 weeks old at the time). He weighed 11 lbs, 10 oz (25th%) and was 23.5" long (60th%)...long and lean...a Pipal, for sure! The doctor said he looked great! He got several immunizations and was pretty upset by them. Later that evening, poor baby was so uncomfortable and just cried and cried...didn't care to be held or nurse or take his pacifier. It was so sad! Luckily, Mimi Irene was here with her grandmotherly love to help try to calm him down. The Tylenol kicked in after a little while, which helped a ton!

Evan is still sporting his mohawk!

Evan is in size 2 diapers. He wears some 6 month clothes but he's still mainly in 3 month clothes, but those will definitely be retired this month (sob!).

He loves to stand up and bear weight on his legs. He is so strong! This kid rocks tummy time and can get about half-way into a roll when started on his tummy.

Lucas has been successful in getting Evan to fall asleep for a nap by playing his guitar while singing to him and rocking him with his foot! It is absolutely precious! Lucas has also created original songs to sing to Evan along with traditional lullabies.

We love you, Evan! What a blessing you are to our family!
