Lucas is 13 months old!

I have to get this post in before Lucas turns 14 months old in 2 weeks! It's been sitting in my draft folder waiting for pictures to be added, but those will have to come at a later time. Life is very hectic nowadays and I haven't had much time to upload pics, let alone sit at our desktop computer (hence, this post from work on my lunch hour!)

I probably won’t be able to keep up with the lengthy monthly updates for much longer, but we still want to remember what Lucas is up to at 13 months.

~ He loves to dance whenever there is music playing. He does this adorable spin with his one hand up in the air. He is also good at bobbing his head and swaying to the beat.

~ He loves to “read” the book Doggies by Sandra Boynton. Of course, reading means holding the book open, turning the pages while saying “Doe-doe, woof-woof” over and over again. This is, perhaps, the cutest thing ever! (and "doe-doe" means dog, obviously)

~ He also loves to point out the duck and says “duck” on every page of The Belly Button Book.

~ New words include: uh-oh, ta-da, bye-bye (while waving good-bye), bravo! (while clapping)

~ Animal sounds are new this month too. As mentioned before, he knows "woof-woof" for dog. Lucas can also tell you what a cow, monkey, and a loon says (yes, loon is random, I know - but we have family from Minnesota and he has a stuffed loon that makes the sound when you press its wing).

~ He knows the proper use of a brush and a phone, and will hold his brush to his head and his phone to his ear.

~ Lucas really enjoys emptying bins and refilling them – his socks and blocks are faves. He likes stacking and nesting bowls, and can also stack 2 blocks. The shape sorter has also gotten more use and he can usually get the square in the right hole.

~ We knew it would happen eventually – our wonderful eater has grown picky. We usually have luck with any fruit, cheese, carrots, crackers, and chicken (depending on how it’s cooked). At least he loves his milk!

~ He is down to one long nap in the afternoon from about 12-2:30. He sleeps great at night from 7pm-6:30am.

~ Lucas only crawls about 1 percent of the time now, and that only lasts for a few seconds when he realizes walking will get him where he wants to go much faster. His balance has improved so much and we have even caught him “running” for a few steps here and there!

~ Lucas loves seeing himself in the mirror and will usually report “baby” while gazing at himself.

This is such a fun age! Lucas has such a sweet personality and is learning and growing so much on a daily basis. It is amazing to witness! Pictures to come later...
