~ New words this month include: ball, night-night, and done. We also realized that he's been saying "hi" for a while now - but since it comes out as a soft "haaa", it was hard to recognize.
~ Eric taught Lucas how to sign "milk" and now he can tell us exactly when he wants milk.
~ Every night before bed, I say, "Let's pray", and Lucas will fold his little hands while we say some bedtime prayers. It is just too precious.
~ Playing with balls is more fun than ever this month. He loves big round bouncy balls and even tennis balls. Lucas loves throwing balls to Darby and she's been really patient with him.
~ He loves blowing kisses - especially to his daycare teachers and Darby.
~ We have been practicing self feeding with a spoon. More yogurt ends up on his face and bib, but practice makes perfect, no?
~ Lucas started a waterbabies class at the YMCA this month, and just like we presumed, he LOVES being in the water. He is so animated and loves singing songs and playing with the other kids.
~ Since the temps this month were so mild, the kids have been going outside to play at daycare. Lucas has learned how to slide down the little slide.
~ Dancing has evolved, and he now does a little jig/march that is hilarious!
~ Reading books in our lap has become pretty standard. Lucas will grab a book of the shelf, walk up to you with a huge smile on his face, turn around when he reaches you, and back right in to your lap if you're sitting Indian style. Too. cute. for. words.
~ He has become very good at understanding commands and what we are saying. If we ask him to put something away in a bin, he will oblige and help.
~ Lucas can now get the square, circle, and triange into his shape sorter.
~ He will shake his head back and forth for "no" when we say "no" (while smiling, of course! - little stinker) - like when he tries to take the caps off the electrical sockets or push the on/off button on the tv. He's starting to test his limits, for sure!
It's amazing how much Lucas is turning into a little boy/toddler right before our eyes. He's such a sweet guy with a happy, pleasant, laid back personality, though he knows exactly what he wants at all times. He laughs and giggles all the time, and never a day goes by where he doesn't have Eric and I cracking up and something that he's doing. He's a wonderful sleeper, and he's been doing really well on one long nap (2-2.5 hrs) in the afternoon. We really could not ask for a better son and 14 months later, we are still in awe that he is ours.
