This year, we went up to Rochester for Easter. We spent the beginning of our trip with Mimi Connie and Granpa Pipal, and then moved over to Mimi Jojo and Papa JayJay's house. We had a great time at the zoo, and visiting with friends and family.

David & Claire are 18 months old!
Wow! Where has the time gone! Our little babies are full-blown toddlers now...running, jumping (or attempting to jump!), climbing, wrestling, talking, following commands, and acting like the big little people that they are! They are bundles of energy, bundles of fun, and sometimes bundles of breakdowns and boo-boos! Let's see what David and Claire are up to these days...
Their verbal language is taking off.
Claire is not as verbal as David. She speaks, but her voice is quite soft and her annunciation is not as clear as David's. She tries harder and usually says new words when she hears that we get excited at David's progress. We are working on using words to get what she wants like "up" and "more" instead of screaming and throwing tantrums. Some of our favorite words and phrases of Claire's are when she says David ("Day-Day"), Lucas ("Cuh, cuh"), Hi Dada!, I did it!, good girl, bow (and points to her hair...finally, she will wear and keep bows in her hair!!), Elmo. She is also very good at using yes and no correctly.
We are quite the musical family. The babies love to dance and sing. Both sing ABCs...their own versions. Neither pronounce all the letters correctly, but they both have the tune and intonation down to a "T" :) (pun, intended!). Claire goes up to P, while David goes all the way to Z including the "now I know my..." part). They also sing Happy Birthday (and David actually sings "to Mommy" ON my birthday. We just about died and SO wish we got that particular time on video! The video below is hard to hear, and isn't the whole song that he usually sings) and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. It's so hard to get videos of David singing because he clams up as soon as the camera comes out. Claire, on the other hand, is a little performer and will sing to the camera when asked. They also love to have dance parties with Lucas. They love to participate in music class and listen to the CDs at home and in the car. David and Claire will both sing several songs that we know from music class, and many times, one will start a song and the other will finish it, which is cute beyond words!

Other than that, we are just having fun watching them learn and grow! They are little sponges and we regularly find them imitating things that they see Mommy, Daddy, and Lucas do. We are excited for the warm spring weather so we can play outside and see what kind of trouble these kids can get into outside of the house!
Their receptive language is amazing. Both Claire and David can follow two and three step commands. "Take shoes (or coat), and bring to the front closet." "Go into family room and find your milk cup. Bring to mommy." It's pretty amazing what they understand and can act on.
Their verbal language is taking off.
David talks non.stop.all.day.long. He is rarely quiet. Labeling objects, repeating words and phrases. Attempting conversations. Favorite things David says right now are Claire and Claire Bear, Darby (Dardee), Where's Daddy?, It's Daddy!, Hi Daddy! (or Mommy, Claire, Darby), trash truck, choo-choo, paci (bapi), pretzel, "what's that?", ride (whenever he gets into a wagon or on one of our play cars), gorilla book ("lilla book" to ask us to read the book "Goodnight Gorilla"). He must have 75 words and phrases that we can understand or somewhat understand, and a ton more that we can't make out but that he tries to say. And he's adding several new ones by the day. David rarely says yes, but LOVES to say NO. Observe.
